Kailee Walgren, School Social Worker, LCSW

Hello! I am Kailee Walgren the School Social Worker at the Early Childhood Center. I have been employed with Coal City School District since 2012, working my first 3 years primarily at the Intermediate School. I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of Saint Francis and I obtained a Master's degree from Aurora University in Social Work with a concentration in schools. I became an LCSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker in February 2020.

As a School Social Worker, I provide direct and indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students' academic, social, and emotional success. I also serve as a member on the Preschool Diagnostic team, which is responsible for screening and evaluating students age 3-5 to determine if there is a need for school based services.

In addition to my passion for supporting children, I enjoy spending time with my family, my husband and daughter, friends and my chihuahua Izzy, bike riding, working out, fishing, nature, and photography.

Coal City Backpack Program

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Coal City Backpack Program, a non-for-profit organization, is pleased to offer a food Backpack Program to area students in need. The Backpack Program will drop off a specific number of bags of food to the school, which will then be distributed once a week to children enrolled in the program. The bags will contain a variety of nutritious, non-perishable food items such as macaroni and cheese, fruit cups, granola bars, raisins, juice boxes, crackers, oatmeal, and applesauce. The bags may include products containing peanuts, wheat, milk, or other common food allergens. It is your responsibility to ensure the items are appropriate for your child to consume. The food will be in nondescript plastic bags, which can then be put in your child’s backpack.
The Backpack Program is voluntary and is offered at no cost to participants. The school will keep students’ names confidential.
You may enroll at any time, however, if you enroll in the middle of the year and not at the start, you run the risk of having to wait a week or more before the first bag is distributed to your child. Our first distribution is targeted for the first week in October. Please contact me if you have further questions.
