There will be some special gifts under the tree this year as students at Coal City’s Early Childhood Center, Elementary School and Intermediate School were provided with a bit of time to shop for holiday gifts that were just right for some of the special people in their lives.
The schools have hosted Santa’s Workshop events this month where students could shop from a selection of handcrafted items from bookmarks and holiday decorations to wall art and jewelry.
All items ranged in price from 25 cents to $5. Students came to school with cash and a list of people to buy for. All of the purchases were gift wrapped by staff and volunteers, and sent home to be gifted this holiday.
