The staff at the ECC has been working hard for the past few weeks to prepare for the students to enter the building for the first time this school year. The doors opened for Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 15th, and the hallways were once again filled with the voices and laughter of our youngest Coalers! Students were so excited to meet their new teachers and explore their new classrooms. Returning students and older siblings took time to visit old teachers and see changes in the building. The doors to Back to School Night closed at 5:00 PM and the hallways were once again quiet and ready for the 1st Day of School!! Mrs. Davidson read bedtime stories on Tuesday evening to help our friends feel a little less nervous.
On Wednesday, August 16th, the day finally arrived! The 1st Day of School was so exciting! The buses started to arrive and our new and old friends were smiling and excited to be back with friends and teachers! The weather was perfect to enjoy playing outside at recess and exploring new playgrounds and new friends!
At the beginning of each new school year, Kindergarten students come one half at a time. For the first ten days of school, the classes are cut in half to learn new routines and how to be at school in a smaller group. The Kindergarten A group attended on August 16th and the Kindergarten B group was welcomed on August 17th. Beginning August 30th, ALL Kindergarten students will begin attending each day. Preschool joined the excitement on August 17th as well. When all of Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st grade are in the building, the ECC is home to over 400 students!
We would like to wish all Coal City Coalers a very happy new school year!
Go Coalers!
